how to get carrier information from SIM card - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Is there a way to read network carrier information from SIM card?

not sure if this is what you're looking for but, try this...

Thanks for the respone.
I am looking for API or something that I can use programmatically to get the carrier information.
Currently I am using lineGetCurrentOperator. But sometimes it just gives me "Roaming" and not network carrier name.

a quick question i need help with

hey guys is it possible to flash a radio to the 8525 that would allow it to be used on the sprint network....
You should be able to use any network, though you may need to unlock your Hermes. Look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Cheers...
8525 is a GSM phone and requires a sim card. what i want to know is it possible to do something to the phone that would allow me to use it on Sprint which is a CDMA network meaning no sim card.

How to flash HD2 to Cricket?

I tried searching everywhere and still no answers.
Does anyone know if it is possible to flash the Htc Hd2 to cricket or metropcs.
they are network providers, so i assume you mean unlock the phone to use them?
no flashing will not do that. you would need the network unlock code, however isn't metre cdma? if it then the hd2 cannot work on it.
Yes as long as the network uses GSM (sim cards )
So theres no way htc hd2 can be turned into cdma and be flashed to metro or cricket?
you cannot flash a phone to unlock it. as stated above you need the unlock code, you can get this from your network provider for approximately £15 just tell them you are leaving the country for a holiday and want to change your sim card to a local network sim card in the other country (to get a better rate). If you would prefer you can easily unlock your phone on the internet, again for aground £15-£20, just search on Google.
as for your other question about cdma im not to sure.
re: cdma i'm only 95% sure but i think you're out of luck, i think its a whole different hardware.

can't register on network with g1

I unlocked successfuly my tmobile g1 coming from usa, but now I have no signal and unable to register on network.when I go in settings, wireless control,,mobile networks.when i ask for available networks i have this error message:"error while searching for networks".even when i choose select automatically i have this:"your sim card does not allow a connection to this network".we have GSM, GPRS, and EDGE in my country.Do you have any idea?thanks!
It's your SIM card being locked to a specific network. You might have to contact your vendor.
I don't understand,my sim card locked?I don't have pin code.you are talking about my foreign sim card(non tmobile?)could you explain more?
I don't know why either. I just know that is what happens. I had the same problem with my SIM too when I went on vacation. But I didn't bother trying to fix it. Since I brought the local SIM to use because I didn't want to pay the international rates.

[Q] Only have T-Mobile Can't find ATT

----Seems like this is not the correct forum. will move it to unlock forum.
Need help on at&t network.
Recently i purchased one dual-core/dual-sim cellphone by one Chinese manufacture. It's claiming 4-band GSM, 850/900/1800/1900.
But when i insert att sim card, it always has 'Emergency calls only'. While with T-mobile sim card, it can be connect to T-mobile quickly.
As i know, TMB has 2G 1900 coverage, so as At&t. So i assume that this is not frequency issue. And i am pretty sure that this cellphone does have any 'lock' problem since all phone in China doesn't lock.
It took me a few days searching the solution but no luck. Network operators is grayed out when with att sim card.
This is what i'v tested:
-ATT, H2O prepaid card, no help.
-Changed the APN, no help
Then i go further, modified 'BP' firmware, like changing QCN (it's Qualcomm chipset) item 1877 according to this post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521355&page=7.
But still no att.
So i am just looking for help from xda. for now, i can't tell what's the issue is.
I can provide more info if someone has some thought.

Weird. What is your zip code? You might need to search FCC frequency licenses to see what carrier frequencies are for your area.

[Q]Saving sim cards, dual sims and the link between autonomous sim cards sharing IMEI

What exactly is preventing my phone, from saving say an "image" of my sim card, and using it while the sim card is not technically physically in the phone.
Is the S4 capable of utilizing a dual sim scenario? And if so on what rom would this be possible, if it is even a rom dependent function.
Finally, obviously on the end of cooperating service providers, it would be a simple task to see the same IMEI connecting to both networks at different times. Is this something that is possible to conceal on my end, from those service providing bodies?
Thanks for any input you have, and don't get totally hung up on the S4 aspect of this, consider the questions preceding, and succeeding the possibility of the S4 to take part in this function.
