chargers for the MDA - using motorla charger? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hey all... i have a motorla charger that fits (and lights up) the MDA, but should i be using it?
on the back of the motorola charger it says:
Input: 100 - 240~ 50/60hz 0.1A
Output: 5V - 550mA
The Orginal MDA charger says:
Input: 100 - 240~0.2A 50/60hz LPS
Output: 5V - 1A
Any ideas? - then i can also use a car charger i have.
Thanks
Faisal

This should be ok, as long as you don't need to charge a spare battery at the same time..
You can charge trhtough USB, and usb has 5v 500mA..

Charging: Power Lead - 580mA vs 1.0A

Hi
The charger that came with my HTC P3600 says 5V, 1A. However most of my other miniUSB chargers which I use with a I-mate JAMin & K-JAM say 580mA or 500mA. I also have some adapters for the HTC P3600 which would allow me to plug in one of these miniUSB chargers. The question is should I? Would it make any difference? In case you're wondering why I would want to do this, its because I have a charger at work, home, girlfriends, in the car etc. And I would rather have a few adapters than shell out for loads more chargers. Thanks for listening!
Well, the Amp on your charger is how much Juice it can deliver.
So as far as I can guess you would have 2 scenarios, 1 is it will work but it will charge your HTC slower, or second option is that the charger will overheat.

USB/AC detection?

Hi,
I saw while using Tbattery 0.56 that when I plug the original AC charger that the S/W (Kaiser) detects it and therefore he pulls more current from the charger.
When I use USB cable, its detects "USB" and takes less current.
now for my question, I have a AC charger from Parrot and when I'm connecting it the device acknowledge it as a "USB" not "AC charger".
Does anyone know if there is an Hardware pin in the mini USB that notify the kaiser wether its USB or AC charger ?
Regards
Nir
Hi Nir
I don't have a Kaiser, but on my prophet I've had quite the same problem.
The USB / AC difference is about the current...
On my USB charger (able to charge any USB device), the current is 0.5A
On my AC charger, provided with my prophet, the current is 1A.
As a result, when my battery is completely drained, i'm unable to charge the device via a simple USB charger. I've got to give a kickstart using the AC charger.
Hope this helps.
David
I have diamond. same 'problem' (or more of a protection from current overdraw) here.
Actually the original ac adaptor shorted the USB data+ and data-
So you'll have to modify your 3rd party USB charger by connecting the center 2 pin of usb jack. you shouldnt do this on pc or laptop as this will render usb connection useless if it doesnt fry your devices.
Do it on your own risk!!
ohms law state
amp == volt / resistence
usb is spc'd volt == 5
max amp == 0.5
AC have a much higher max amp limit then usb
so the internet resistence of the pda set the pace
and it can it seems draw a lot more then usb is spc'd to
so it's not something the device actively does it just
try to draw as many amps as it's spc'd to
resulting in ac charger charging faster then usb

Sprint USB OEM Charger ok for 220v?

Does anyone know if the included USB AC Adapter that comes with the Touch pro is ok for 220v? Thanks!
If it says 110/220V on the charger, then it is okay.
The Sprint HTC wall outlet charger is rated for 100-240V and 50-60Hz
In short, yes.

car charger from other devices...

hey, anybody know if it's good to use a generic car adapter-to-usb for the hd2? Would it damage the hd2 battery?
I got the adapter from an old ipod car charger. Specifications: Input= DC 12V-24V, Output= DC 5v (+-5%), Max= 500mA

I've used a generic cigarette/usb charger with the HTC cable to run my satnav.
After about 1 hour a message pops up to say there is not enough current to charge the battery fully.
If I clicked OK the message went away for a while.
Now I have a dedicated car charger which is fine (and cheap) Like This
