Anyone having an issue with their default phone dialer. Sometimes it just wont run so I can make a call. Also when I close it down from running it will freeze.
After I do a soft reset it works find for a while, then it locks again.

maybe try a new ROM, i know it seems like a big deal for such a small problem.. but you will get new, better features. it may also be a third party app that is messing around with it. i suggest trying the new rom (WM6 Pro 3.0 by ANTC is pretty good) and avoid installing and third party apps you don't need. also, make you sure hard reset after reflashing. good luck

Instead of reflashing, just do a hard reset; that will clear out all applications you installed and revert your phone back to a "just installed" state. Make sure to back up any important data before initiating the hard reset.
I might try that. Will that erase all my phone numbers on the sim?

ah at last! someone has same problem!.
its unclear, why its happening, but ie. if you press clock, of just do something to show element of gui(bubble, notification, etc, you will be able to launch phonepad normally(75%).
i am not sure, if it is ROM, custom dialpads, or installed software related...but may be dependant of today plugins(which are losing "focus"-i mean its selection blocks phonepad...
it is not pernament block, what i am talking about, launching any program, and closing it makes phonepad launchable again(xx%)..

i've got that issue since mUn 4.0.0.0 roms started to appear, but it may be custom dialpad, which i started to use shortly after 4.0.0.0 variations tests.
also, it seems to be related to any flushes, that may close phone process...then it just cant be rerun( have no better words..).

I have the default blue dialpad on it now and changed back from the Pauly's Vista Eten dialer and both are giving me the issues. Even a few minutes ago if happened. I am still with my 30 days of purchase with Cingular. I dont know if I should keep it or send it back.
I like all my other features. Hate that is locks and I have to softreset.

i think you should just upgrade to WM6, i don't think you will have an issue.. since you have a g4 u will need to use the shelltool.. follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293480. you will need to find a rom, and i'm still leaning towards the newest WM6 by ANTC, as it is vanilla and has no extra software attached to it.. go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309078 for that. also, a hard reset won't delete the numbers on a sim card. just make sure u sync before you flash and then hard reset. good luck

as i said, i havent ever had this problem. i'm guessing that you are still running wm5.. so an upgrade should fix a compatability issue with software.. and you should make sure you don't put any extra software on there that you don't need. otherwise you will overload it, and it MAY happen again.

I have a Wing and about two weeks ago, I put my first calendar event in it and since, it has been acting up. I deleted the calendar event and it worked ok. So last week I put another event in there I needed and now it runs a LOT slower and locks up when I try to text message. Once I slide it to use the keyboard, sometimes I can put in who I'm sending it to but once I get to the message, locks up. I can't close the program or continue typing. I close the slider and it stays in landscape mode. Every other program on here works well but sometimes slow. After lurking on here, i thought it was a memory issue, program or storage. I've done a couple things to move stuff to the memory card so it shouldn't be memory. I have plenty of space on there and nothing helps. I have an overclock program on here and run it at 228 instead of 186 but nothing changes. I also downloaded MemMaid and have played around with it trying to help but no. Anyone have an idea what could be wrong? Is there a way to reload just the text program to work right again? I don't want to do a hard reset because I have almost 200 contact #'s and I really don't want to lose all those or have to write them down and retype them all in. Thoughts? I know I'm not the only one and after searching/lurking on here for a few days, i'm not finding the help needed. Thanks!!!
forgot to state the facts.
Storage memory 27.56mb free, program memory 16.51mb free. I did delete the MyFavs program which helped dramatically.
Are you using the stock Rom? If so have you tried changing your pagepool? My experience with using the stock rom was disappointment and eventually changed to a custom rom. But I do agree with you it does sound like a memory issue.
Also I would consider finding a Contacts backup program so when it all goes to crap you are safe. There are many options for backing up so I would recommend just using your favorite search engine. But sooner or later your wing will get so unresponsive you will want to reinstall and a backup is a nice option with that many contacts.
I am going to do a backup tomorrow for sure but I don't think it's a memory issue. If it was, how do people have wings working perfectly with 4-8mb and I'm consistantly 13-16? It has to be a software issue which means it can be fixed. Anyone else have this problem? I saw a few people on Yahoo Answers but no one stated a fix to the issue. Beuller?
Also forgot which it just did again is once in a blue moon when I go to do a screen lock, it gives me an all white screen then won't let me unlock it. I have to do a soft reset. Another piece to the puzzle that no one is figuring out. lol
Lately it's starting to do it when I even try to type using IE, say to log into a gmail account or to put in a URL. Somehow the keyboard is locking up the phone all together. If I get a call during a time when it's locked up, it ends up ringing but won't let me click answer or ignore. It seems like it's memory but at all times I have between 14-16 megs of program available with over 26 megs of storage. SOMEONE here has to have an idea, right?
Apparently I've stumped the developers here... time to find someone who can help me.
The stock T-mobile Wing rom sucks... it has memory leaks and it doesn't work very well. Very often, you try to open a program like the camera, and it will say "not enough memory to run" ... or texting will freeze up ..etc...
Best thing to do is install a 3rd party rom...

I personally reccommend ITJE or ASERG roms... I've used both of their roms extensively and have found them to be the most professional, fast and stable.

I use 4 different schedules for work and would like to have a personal one as well. You're my hero.

I still use the stock rom, of course, I haven't had any of the problems you do. It acted up when I first bought it, but I hard reset and followed the steps in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655.
From what I've read, T-mobiles roms are highly inconsistent. (surprise, surprise...) Some work decent if you don't mind a soft reset every morning, and some are just rotten apples. Try the mods and a hard reset 1st, but it sounds like you need a new rom.

OK, I loaded no2chem nueROM3 so that I can finally have enough memory to run larger items. I want to try Manilla2D again; however, after doing a lot of searching I seem to find lots of versions, etc.
So my question is: Where can I find the latest, newest version of Manilla 2D?

I finally hard reset to get rid of M2D, I like it but every time I would flash it, randomly one tab would reset TF. I used the same files on my SD card, set it up again and it would randomly switch what tab shut TF down.
I was using updates 14 and 16 the last few times I set it up. Let us know what you think of a fresh install of update 18.
Ok, I'll try update 18. I assume that, once I get that 18 update file, I just unzip it, and install the Manilla2d cab, correct? And what is the 'patch' file about?

Unzip it and thereshould be an instructions.txt file. Read it to see the order of installation, as just installing the M2D cab will make nothing work
There were several patches, from making the weather display custom cities to making the album art show in audio manager. Just unzip and read the instructions.
It has been a while since I read that thread so I may be a little out of the loop. Best to read some of the newer entries dated around 9-30, when the update came out.

FWIW, I used the version that is in buildos with nueROM, and it rocks! I then used the M2D customizer found in the hackanddev forum to turn off some of the tabs (internet, mms, and a few others i would never use). In high memory mode, even after a full day's use, I still idle with about 18mb ram. Not to bad! Even in low mem mode, still have around 16-17 ram, but it does fade to around 12-13 after some useage.

Ok, I tried it but I was not impressed. No, not with the content (it looked really cool) but with it working.
First of all there wasn't any instructions anywhere - just .cab files. So I installed what I assumed I needed to install. Ran Ok after resetting; however, none of the grid items worked. By that I mean that I couldn't add (or use) anything on the contacts or programs menu - Although the app was active, licking (touching) would do nothing. Even trying to click the internet icon would do nothing.
Finally I gave up on that one, uninstalled it, then installed the one I found here (the xda version). Now that one worked, and I could set up contacts and programs. However, the internet would never work, and it was mighty flakey to use. There was some other major problem with that version, although now I can't remember what it was.
Anyway, I went ahead and uninstalled that one also. So at this time I guess it is just not ready for prime time. Anyone have any other ideas to get it running right (if I am even running the correct one), or a better choice? I have tried the new Wisbar Desktop Advance, but it has a major memory leak in it. PointUI was OK but just not what I was looking for (had problems also).

So you went HERE and downloaded a zip file from one of the updates, and it did not come with instructions? That would make all the difference in anything working. I will post the last instruction set I have, it may not be for 18 but it is the most recent I have. And remember, this is an example from an older update!
first of all im a total noob to this(1 day's worth of experience)...so take that as it is...
HOWEVER...just messing around today with 18 i ended up getting everything working. I DL'd the zip, and installed EVERYTHING in the logical order that made sense in my head. (main before patches, etc.) It looks to me that all those files are the actual working pieces of Manilla(correct me if im wrong)...
A few things that are bothering me...Anyone have this working on landscape? It cuts off 1/4 of the screen on the right hand side and just says "sprint" in a black box????
it is well known that there is no native landscape support. I find it hard to believe the newest version did not come with an instruction set. I may have to attempt 18 tomorrow just to see. I apologize as I am not with my laptop to help out here.
And yes, the .cab's are the backbone for manilla.

Yep, that is where I went and I got the Rel 18 download... All it had was a folder in it with the CABs - I didn't see anything in there that had instructions.

I think there should be an instruction set in a folder called "necessary files".
Like I said, I haven't downloaded 18 yet, so I might be wrong.
14 works best for me but it comes in the diamond black/green colors which i'm not too fond of so I reverted back to the blue. It also doesn't include the N2A weather patch in order to add custom cities so I had to install that. Kind of a PIA but EVERYTHING works perfectly.
I had tried 15 and I think 16 on Nuerom but kept getting validation or permission errors when trying to install the actuall Manilla exe file at the end. So I went back to 14 which seemed to work fine.
Does 18 come with the weather patch included, and what color theme does it have? Is it the blue? Might have to try that one out.

i didnt want to flash roms beacuase i have a mac and cant, but my fone just "hardreset" it started up like the first time but now i have no home screen no quicklinks and cant even use cht editor to bring back clock and all that other stuff what am i suposed to do now ?? a real hard reset ? this is ridiculous
Can you access the start menu? I'd just use Pimbackup, back up everything and try a real hard reset or new ROM
Are you sure Sense is turned back on? Settings/Home/Items/ check Sense , ok. Should come on.

So you just get the blank windows 6.5 home screen (no sense) when it starts up? Can you still pull up the start menu and get to settings? If you can, go into the "today" settings, then "items" tab, and see if the box is checked for "HTC Sense"...if not, check it and click "ok" to close.
If that's not it...then are probably close to needing a hard reset. Is BsB Tweaks one of cabs you installed?
Sounds as though you simply just need to turn HTC Sense back on, in which the instructions were posted by others above me. If not, hard reset it. Before panicking and acting crazy, going forward, read the CABS instructions and release notes before installing. It's that simple.
This happened to me yesterday, somehow, between BSBtweaks, and the New version Co0kies, and CHT, I somehow turned sense off.I am sure it was user error on my part.
Try following the instructions above.

yea it worked thanks i almost went ape pooh on the fone last ngiht lost sleep and went to an 8am class it sucked hahah well evrything fine and dandy now, i definitely turned it off to install chteditor, and i guess i forgot in the process since i had just hard reset and started being very selective apps and tweaks applied, before though i was consistanly running with 280.xxMB 300+MB right after start up in that area now its seams a bit more sluggish, generally stayin around 260 and 280 on start up? any clues as to what it could be i have less installed now then before. and i log the tweaks i have done (for the most part when i remember) happy holidaze btw !!!

I'm trying to empty my "Deleted Items" Folder to get rid of deleted text's. But as I try, it spins and spins, then eventually just freezes. Causing me to have to pull the battery out to get it to turn back on again. Which in turn causes all those texts to be back on the phone. This is slowing my phone down like crazy. Is there a background way, through a registry or such that I could delete these message through?

Try deleting them in groups rather than all at once
Thanks, but that's not an option once they go into the Deleted Items folder.

What ROM do you have? I only had that issue with the first ROM that o2 released with the phone...1.43...never had that issue with subsequent upgrades, and no issues at all with Artemis custom ROM.

Is that a US ROM? I am not familiar with that version...

that's a tmous (t mobile us) phone, and a tmous rom.
just a word of caution, if you didn't know, this is the regular hd2 section, the tmous has its own section HERE because its a slightly different phone. when you do decide to flash a custom rom, you should ONLY get your roms from the tmous section, otherwise bad things can happen.(but that's not to say they will happen, so don't fret )
as for your problem, whilst you can't delete batches of messages from deleted items, you can delete them one by one.(press and hold and choose clear)
alternatively, try opening the windows messaging client and see if that works better than the htc one.
