APN's are usually stores within the rom. Try resetting them to default.
Usually, you can manually add your carrier's APN settings to the phone.

Hello, from some time now i'm experiencing this problem.
I have no APN settings in the APN screen. It's all black and i have to manually input them all the time i change to a new ROM.
Can you help me to solve thi issue please?
Did you ran Market Enabler? If you did, then every time you change (fake) the provider, the APN setting will be refreshed following the new provider and you'd have to re-enter your provider's APN parameter.
Well, that's how I experience it on mine.
No i have a stock shui8 1.4b rom. no changes. the problem is that there are no APN at all.
So when the phone connect to my operator the system automatically didnt show me any pre
setted APN (web, mms, wap etc)
It just give a black screen and i have to add all of them manually
I encounter similar setback during the earlier batch of builds. This is common, as builder need to compile a complete apns-conf.xml (Build-time APN configuration) which is to be loaded during boot.
Try finding a complete apns-conf.xml and copy it to /system/etc/ folder. Follow this thread for further information.
ive looked through different threads and tried some of them but after booting to nand android i cantn send pics..i can recieve but not send...anybody else had this problem or know how to fix it?

DFT Android ROM for HTC LEO
===========================
This ROM was created on stock HTC Desire ROM base.
Main goals was to make ROM as close as possible to HTC Desire official stock rom.
i even copied what the thread said here http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948&highlight=problem+mms but it still didnt work
Hi,
You need to Google for your carriers APN settings and enter them correctly in Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Add New.
What you might want to try is following the above instruction but instead of delete the setting, press the menu button while in APN Settings and select reset defaults. then reselct your provider's setting from the list. You might need to toggle airplane mode on and off to re-establish a connection.
Depending on your carrier there are size limits to what you can send.
For instance, mine is 300kb on T-Mobile, you can adjust the size settings if you go into messaging, menu, settings, down to mms settings, try changing to 600 first, if not change to 300
(This is all dependant on you having the correct settings, if you do, try my advice)
thanks guys..i had to google my settings and found unlockr.com had them
thanks or all informations
Good morning , someone would know tell me where is the file containing the apn added manually ? Thank You
To add an APN manually go to your phone's settings and into the network area to add one.
Yes, I know , but in the settings I can only choose three options in a list . But I need a string .
Hi, I have an s8 originally VZW, with G950U1 firmware and Total wireless sim, when i go to apn settings the option to add is greyed out, it only gives me a profile default for Tracfone apn, which i can't edit. How can i solve this problem?
Create a new APN with the correct settings and activate that APN.

im in the same boat, bought the s8+ black online no carrier attached and i popped in my verizon sim. i want to edit the apn but everything is greyed out. i think its a possible sim issue. i put my brothers tmobile sim and everything worked.
I am hoping you have solved the problem by now. When I found I had the same problem, I went to the page with the "add" grayed out,and instead tapped the only apn that was there, and another window opened up with the apn address field being the only dark one there, so I clicked on it, backspaced the wrong address out, and typed in the preferred one. Done. I still can't add any more, but you can edit the one that is there...
EDIT: Nevermind, switched carriers. Mods please delete this thread.
Hello all. Background info:
MetroPCS. I had WiFi calling prior to 8.1 stock while rooted.
The way I did it was to delete all APN settings one by one until the T-Mobile ones appeared and edit one of them.
Problems:
Unable to get WiFi calling to work.
Unable to delete APN "MetroPCS 260 dun"(fields are greyed out and only options are "save" and "discard) (though the others are deletable).
Can't add new APN with appropriate settings because an APN with the MVNO type set to "none" won't save.
Things I've tried:
Updating e911 address via app and MetroPCS customer service 3 times.
Factory reset.
Reflash ROM.
Extract sim and reinsert it.
Meddled with the APN config file and since restored it.
I'm perplexed by this situation since I haven't seen or heard of anyone who can't delete "MetroPCS 260 dun"
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I may fix it?
Thanks in advance.
