Flash a stock ROM to restore your recovery, as I don't think the recovery image is separate in stock ROM files flashed through Odin. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that, but why do you need or want the stock recovery anyway?
..
Ok. There were no changes in the recovery from when the phone was first released to now. If you want the stock recovery, just flash the image you have.

I have the s5 900f. I'm not new to custom ROMs and thought I'd give one a go for the s5.
Done system backup with twrp and flashed bliss. The ROMs is but I preferred the stock. Anyway I done a full wipe and then selected the restore. All seems to go well and the restore completes. But when restart the phone it starts to boot then fails. No error message or anything. OK I know I can flash another stock rom but I had the back just how I wanted it with all my settings and customisation.
I read a lot about the partitions being changed with a custom rom which can cause a restore to fail. I will flash a stock ROM then once I get it working I will try a restore again. Do I need to flash the pit file?
OK so previously have had htcs. On those I had to flash the bootloader via fastboot and then flash the ROM from recovery. Is it right that with the s5 the bootloader is bundled and flashed with the custom ROM? So when I reflashed the backup the phone still had the bootloader from the customer ROM? Can someone confirm if that is correct or not? I know how to fix my phone but I also like to learn and under stand what happenened.
Just flash the G900F PIT file along with a stock ROM in ODIN
PIT files should be avoided there are many risks while flashing them, albeit the procedure is as easy as it gets.
I would recommend getting Titanium Backup (i have the pro version so i don't know whether what i'm about to suggest is available in the free version or not) and then using titanium to "Extract from Nandroid backup" in the Main Menu and scrolling down to Special Backup/Restore
Hi Guys, I downloaded the stock rom from sammymobile and flashed it via odin. It also reset my recovery to stock as well but was is easy enough to fix
I then made sure the reactivation lock was turned off and reflashed my recovery back and I then reflashed my original backup recovery and success!
Tp recap if anyone else has this problem....
Download and flash the original stock rom,
Boot the phone and turn off the reactivation lock (you dont need to bother with account setup)
Flash the recovery (must be the same one you used for your backup)
Flash your saved backup
Done
Hopefully this gelps someone who finds themselves in my pickle.
To be honest after coming from HTCs I never appreciated the differences when it comes to rooting, customs roms etc. I now do!
Hello,
I did have CM13 installed on sm-a500fu and wanted to go back to stock rom. Downloaded right version (TWO-A500FUXXU1BOJ6-20151119145810 - 5.02. )) and flash process was without problem (ODIN) .Then i wanted twrp back and i cant do this no matter which version of twrp i use(twrp2.8.7.0-a5ultexx-19082015.tar,twrp-2.8.7.0-a5ultexx-20082015.tar). Recovery flash goes ok but cannot enter recovery.
Phone is always on Samsung logo
My suggestion is to flash again stock ROM, boot in stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset. Reboot to stock ROM normaly and after that you have to follow the steps to root and install twrp as mentioned in the other thread dedicated to it (I assumed you did that once when you flashed CM13).
In fact that's what I did on my phone...
Flash full stock and once done do a factory reset in stock recovery, do this 3 times, then flash twrp.
From the giver of stock roms
Hello,
I dont get it done to reset my x527 to stock conditions.
I downloaded the 5.8.19S.zip and tried to flash it via TWRP. TWRP gives me Error 7 and "This zip is for Device 'le_s2_ww', your device is 'le_s2'"
I figured out that the stock ROM isnt flashable through TWRP, ok.
I wanted to also flash back the Recovery to stock. I downloaded the x526 Recovery to flash it via ADB/Fastboot.
ADB is working, Im able to start my x527 into bootloader. But from here the Commandline says "No devices" (fastboot devices), but the device is shown 'Fastboot Mode' on Display.
But the most important thing: Where I can download the original Stock Rom for my x527? All Links I found myself are for other x52? Devices, or seems suspicious.
Thank you for your help!
I got I worked to transfer the Stock Recovery and flashed it without problems.
Then I tried to flash the 5.8.19S.zip again with original Recovery. Now it seems to work. No Errors were displayed.
But know the device isnt booting. It onlyshows the LeEco Splashscreen for a couple of Minutes for now.
How do I transfer Data between PC and x527? Only Fastboot is working for now.
Ok I found a solution by myself:
- Put Device in Fastboot Mode (Power + Vol down)
- On PC start the command "fastboot boot <TWRP.img> (e.g. "fastboot boot recovery.img")
- Now you have a live TWRP and you are able to Sideload, Install, Wipe etc pp.
Now Im with RemixOS again.
To flash stock rom use the Chinese recovery! And after flash it will ask you to restore to stock recovery or not!
Or u can do it another way!
Rename the stock eui file by update.zip
Open any twrp recovery u have
Perform a factory reset and clean!
Copy the update.zip to phone
Goto fastboot mode
Flash stock recovery
Now the stock recovery will detect update.zip and will load the whole clean rom its a long process though u can give it a try in future!

As you tell do factory reset and clean, what things should be cleaned to do it the cleanest way?
(And how do I just flash the recovery of the update.zip, will I be asked if I swipe to confirm flash of the update.zip? I am afraid it will already start a complete flash than.) Forget that
I just misunderstood the part of your description as I would have to go to fastboot, I think you just have to stay as you are already there all the time... or not?

Forget everything i just got a better way!
Goto fastboot n install chinese recovery available!
Open recovery then goto wipe and do a factory reset!
Then transfer the stock rom file! And flash it!
After the flash you will be asked to replace the recovery! If you want to replace it with stock then swipe to confirm!
Your stock os n recovery will be installed!
Just be patient it will take sometime on boot! N yes if it says some error like encryption n thing just don't get panic! The device will automatically restart in stock recovery and there you will get 2 option!
1st one is to update package via .zip
2nd is to clear data!
Since sometime it is shown in Chinese then just select the 2nd option and it will clear all the things and then will restart the device and will boot into clean stock rom!
Hey I think I will try it this way ...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-stock-rom-using-twrp-t3536122/post73219991#post73219991
Because I just want back 19s modem/firmware, which isn't working with the standalone files amd go back to los13 then.
So with their way I wouldn't have to change the recovery to chinese, to stock and back I guess.
Thx anyway
I have a i9000 and i would like to install twrp so i can install a 7.0 rom but i dont know how to install twrp can someone tell me how?
I would also like to know this as well. I've tried CWM through odn but it's a zip so wont flash. I've tried it in stock recovery but obviously get the signature fail msg.
TWRP comes with the kernel and hence the ROM.
It gets automatically installed if you're on older BML/MTD device..
In which case you should have rebooted after acceptign wipe..
Ahh right, so I flash a new kernel to it and that comes with the recovery built in.
Do I flash the kernel from odin or stock recovery. Got the stuff to unbrick the phone if that happens, just wanted to know the right way before flashing stock rom back and starting again.

The kernel is flashed by the ROM zip... I dont remember if it automatically reboots to recovery or not..
However it does create a file in cache that makes it boot to recovery.. Since the /system is not yet installed.
You should flash the ROM after it boots to new recovery.. then install the zip file again..
All this is described in https://github.com/xc-racer99/android_device_samsung_aries-common/blob/aosp-7.1/updater.sh
I got there in the end.
I flashed CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.tar with odin, then installed cm-10.2.0-galaxysmtd.zip which also updated my older CWM. It had a spam, so I wiped/factory/dalvik etc from the updated CWM and then reinstalled cm-10.2.0-galaxysmtd.zip - now running the rom just fine.
Will be trying out some more over next few days now I have a nandroid of CM10.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Hi guys.
I installed TWRP and rootet my phone with magisk and everything worked fine. I then tried a couple of custom kernels before I restored my TWRP backup. Now I can not turn WiFi on. Can someone please help me.
Is there any way to restore it safely and correctly, maby some file I can download that fixes the problem? I really don't want to flash original firmware allover again..

May it is enough if you flash the boot.img of the rom from which you made the twrp backup. I guess you have the rom file on your sdcard, unzip and flash the boot.img with twrp. Or dirty flash the rom if you're to lazy for a clean install.
I was on stock android 8.0.. So I guess that won't work.

Why this shouldn't work ?? You can flash boot, system, recovery and vendor.img of the unzip factory image with twrp, except bootloader and radio of course, but that's not necessary anyway.

LOL, fastboot flash stock boot, system, vendor.
Btw, if you're flashing to test some custom kernels you should have always the original boot.img from the
rom you're using on your sdcard. First flash the boot.img before you flash the next custom kernel, and don't flash a custom kernel over the next custom kernel.
Do you guys mean my backed up boot? Or should I download this files from somewhere?
If you backuped the original with TWRP, you can use it.
Otherwise download your rom, unzip and look for the file.
To solve your WiFi issue u have to dirty or clean flash anyway with TWRP,fastboot or flashfire. Whatever you prefer.
Okay. Yes i backed up the original. I will try it now
It worked when I only recovered system, boot and data
